The annual McMillan Coffee Morning was held on the September 29th & 30th. The national event aims to raise money for the charity McMillan who provide cancer care to patients and their families.
The Sustainability team at UNIVEG UK organised activities within the local community to support the event. To encourage colleague engagement a variety of competitions were held, first was a McMillan produced sweepstake poster competition whereby entrants had to guess the number of spots on a cake, the winner who guessed closest to the actual figure won half the total cash prize with the remaining money going to the charity. Multiple posters were circulated around the various departments and sites to maximise participation.
In addition to the poster, a competition was organised for colleagues to bake their own cakes, with prizes for the winners, these being donated by local businesses. After the judges had selected the winners all the cakes were cut up and sold by the slice with all proceeds going to McMillan Cancer.
Colleague engagement in the Cake competition and sweepstake posters was fantastic with both sites in Spalding and the Cornwall operation raising £1000 between them, a great result.
