Once again Greenyard Fresh was proud to support the annual ‘Food & Farming Day’ which was held at the East of England Showground, near Peterborough. Over 7,000 children from 69 schools attended the event from London and the Eastern counties of the UK.
The event aimed to help the children understand more about their food and where it comes from, as well as farming and the importance of agriculture and our countryside.
Greenyard Fresh sponsored the event with a variety of fruit samples, which included avocados, mangoes, papaya, passion fruit and figs. The fruit formed part of a replica market stall display in an African village.
Samples of fruit were then prepared for the children, so they could experience the taste, texture and flavour of these exotic fruits.
The African village was built by students from Africa studying agriculture in the UK, supported by the Marshal Papworth Scholarship Fund which is administered by the East of England Agricultural Society.
